Following below are the vacancies that generally are available every season, but take note that we don’t update the status on the go, so some of them might be occupied already. However we’re always looking to meet new people, so your (open) application is always welcome!

Although most of us are Dutch, our vacancies are in English as, in a way, we’re an international collective and love to have mixed nationalities in our crew. Please be aware however that most vacancies, apart from Surf Instructors, require you to speak Dutch as well!

SURFANA ZANDVOORT

Our Surfschool in Zandvoort is an ever growing community, run by passionate surfers who love to share the stoke in quality surf lessons and by hosting events at the beach.

Role description

You’ll manage all bookings for surf lessons in our Viking booking system. You ensure that instructors fill in their availability, so that course participants can schedule lessons. In addition, you schedule surf instructors for the surf camps and for the water activities of the events. You process questions about the kids camp and make adjustments to the surf camp bookings where necessary. You make rosters for the day managers and board caddy’s. You keep an eye on the surf forecasts and give a go or no go on the surf lessons of the next day.

You send gift vouchers, process any complaints, sort the lost and found and you ensure a neat workplace with the necessary office supplies. In the low season and in quieter days this role is combined with that of day manager. In the high season or on busy days you work together with a day manager. You work as much as possible on the beach and when you need a quiet workplace, in the office.

Responsibility

As head of the bookings and planning you work together with all crew. You are the contact point regarding planning matters and are able to provide insight into the bookings. At the surf school you ensure that the day goes well and any problems are resolved. You report to the surf school manager and once a week attend a work meeting with the manager and head instructor (s) involved.

Period and number of hours

March, April and September: 32 hours per week. May, June, July and August: 40 hours per week.

Requirements

Experience in planning and / or organization about a team. Can easily master systems. Speaking of Dutch, English and German (is a plus). Writing Dutch and English. Minimum age 18 years.

THIS IS MY DREAM JOB!

Role description

You take over the tasks of the Head Planner when he / she is free or absent. You plan all surf lessons and extra services, and keep an eye on the surf forecasts making adjustments to the planning if necessary. In addition, you send gift vouchers, process complaints and manage lost and found. You ensure the workplace is always neat and tidy and properly supplied. You’ll also be an aid to the day manager. In high season and during busy times you work together with a day manager, who’ll guide you and keep you informed regarding planning. You work as much as possible on the beach and when it’s busy, at the office.

Responsibility

In the role of assistant planner you, like the planner, are an integral part of the system. As a team leader you work together with the day managers and head instructors and together you ensure that every day runs smoothly and any problems are resolved. You report remarks to the surf school manager and once a week there is a work meeting with involved managers, team leaders and head instructors which you should attend.

May to September – (minimum) 16 hours per week. Can be supplemented with another role.

Role description

Head coach of the Summer camp for kids aged 8 – 12 years. As the head coach of the Kidscamp you’ll help in the preparation of the week ahead, provide lists of names, purchase lists for lunch, monitor logistics and supervise the camp.

At the start of the week, together with the crew, you’re present at reception to welcome children and start the day. You’ll engage with a group of kids making them feel warm and welcome by playing games and entertaining them. You’ll meet up with the kids after their surf lessons and walk them back to the campsite for lunch. In the afternoon you’ll get the kids to participate in an array of activities and games. If there are any accidents or emergencies, you’re able to take control of the situation and act accordingly. You ensure unauthorized behavior is corrected and you ensure that other supervisors act the same way. You’ll follow a weekly program till a Friday Expression Session. If necessary, you’re able to improvise when things such as weather do not permit certain activities.

Responsibility

You monitor the quality of the kids camp. You answer questions from parents and ensure that they leave their children with peace of mind. You lead all supervisors and work together with the surf instructors.

Period and number of hours

From 23 July to 31 August a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 weeks. Other weeks can be fulfilled as a supervisor or in another position. In this way the head coach remains fit and enthusiastic.

Requirements

Experience in guiding groups of children, teaching or sports background. Dutch and English Speaking. Minimum age 18 years.

THIS IS MY DREAM JOB!

Role description

Head coach of the Summer camp for kids aged 12 – 15 years. It’s your job as the team leader of the Summer Camp to prepare and run the camp seamlessly. You adhere to high standard of quality in everything you do and ensure the kids have an amazing week. You’ll be working closely with other supervisors and surf instructors. You are the main point of contact for the parents and teens from the welcome reception to weekly activities and the closing of the week. If necessary, you’re able to adapt the weekly program for things such as weather. Any problems that arise amongst the teenagers or within your team, you’re able to resolve with charisma and in a professional manner.

Responsibility

You are responsible for the teenagers and you direct the other supervisors where necessary. Unauthorised behaviour by the teenagers is consistently corrected. You monitor the quality of the camp and ensure everything is heading in the right direction during the summer.

From 23 July to 31 August, 2 to 3 weeks.

Experience in guiding groups in this age category. Teaching or event background. Speaking of Dutch, English and German. Minimum age 18 years.

THIS IS MY DREAM JOB!

Role description

It’s your job to support the event manager in preparing and executing the events. This concerns private events; singles and group trips, to business customers; company outings and schools trips; sports days and school camps.

For these events you’ll create themes and scenarios, brief your event crew and manage the logistics of each event. On rotating days you’ll coordinate the event, this means that from the briefing to the construction process and until completion you are able to lead everything in the right direction. You’ll need to ensure that you and your team abide a tight schedule, everything is prepared in time and the end product is seamless to the customer and attendees.

Responsibility

You are responsible for ensuring that organisation is communicated well across the event team on location. You meet all guests expectations and all events run seamlessly. You have a keen eye for where improvements can be made and act in a manner that adapts future events.

Period and number of hours

Events run from April through to the beginning of October. During the Summer holidays it is often quieter; during this time you can branch out and aid in other divisions of Surfana. Your contact is for a certain period of time and you’ll work on an hourly basis or for an allocated amount of hours.

SURFANA BLOEMENDAAL

Role description

As a Surf Camp Manager, you monitor the daily business and you have a daily / weekly schedule of when your guests arrive. You manage bookings for the hostel as well as group and camp bookings. You’ll sit at the reception where you check in and check out guests and answer questions by e-mail and telephone. You’re able to make a schedule for the receptionists, camp caddy’s and kitchen crew. You organise the surf camp crew to ensure the camp is neat and radiates hospitality and comfort. As a surfcamp manager you are the main contact person for all crew and the campsite manager, you can solve any problems professionally.

Responsibility

You bear the responsibility for all bookings, guests, crew and the overall quality on the surf camp. As a manager, you make decisions about what needs to happen in exceptional circumstances, you have an exemplary function and you ensure that you work well with the team, but above all you must provide a good atmosphere. You’ll work, eat and sleep on the surf camp.

Period and number of hours

From the end of April to the end of September, about 40 hours per week. The function is shared with a second person with whom the hours or weeks can be divided.

It’s your job as the Assistant Surf Camp Manager to take over the duties of the Surf Camp Manager when he / she is absent or free. This means that on occasion you’ll orchestrate the day-to-day affairs of the Surf Camp.

You’ll manage bookings, check-ins and check-outs, answer questions in person, via email and over the telephone. You’ll set schedules for the receptionist, camp caddy’s and kitchen crew. It’s your job to ensure the surf camp is neat, radiates hospitality and is convenient for its guests. As a surf camp manager you are the person of contact for all crew and the campsite manager, and are able to solve any calamities professionally.

Responsibility

You bear the responsibility for all bookings, guests, crew and the quality on the surf camp. As a team leader you make decisions about what needs to happen in exceptional circumstances, you lead by example and ensure that all staff work well as a team. You work, eat and sleep on the surf camp.

From the end of April to the end of September, the number of days depends on a second person with whom the hours or weeks can be divided.

Photographer: Surf Camp and Surf School

Role description

It’ll be your job to provide excellent photos of all surf camps, surf lessons, events and activities happening at the surf camps and surf schools. You have an adept ability to edit photos and add (Surfana) watermarking. You have the ability to add photos to a website and social media, and are able to do so in a timely manner.

Responsibility

You should be able to take photos in accordance with guidelines laid out by Surfana. You account for people who would not like images of themselves put online in any form. You’re proactive and able to work independently in order to provide optimised visual material. You’re able to assess and give input on what images to take, provide for social media and generally display for guests and visitors at all contact points of Surfana.

Period and number of hours

In high season 5 days a week. In low season, during weekends and events. We’d prefer for you to stay at the Surf Camp during high season.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience with photography, editing and processing of photos. Minimum age is 16 years. A form of portfolio where we can see your work.

Role description

From Sunday to Thursday dinner is provided for the adults and teenagers staying at the Surfana Surf Camp. Full occupancy translates to catering for 60 people.

Breakfast is from Monday to Friday. After the breakfast shift, around 30 teenagers will prepare themselves packed lunches which will need to be overseen by the kitchen crew.

As a chef or kitchen crew, you’ll provide breakfast, lunch and dinner. You’ll do this as a team of 2 people, with 1 person being in charge.

Responsibility

You’re either responsible for the breakfast & lunch shift or for the dinner shift. You’ll do the preparations and ensure there is sufficient food. Together with the camp caddy’s you’ll take care of serving, removing and cleaning up. During your shift, you are ultimately responsible for ensuring that the food and drinks are served on time and that the kitchen and dining area is made clean again. You’re also responsible for passing on orders to the catering supplier dependent on the number of guests.

July & August: 40 hours a week for a period of 6 weeks. During low season there will be the possibility to work with other catering groups.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year experience in catering and kitchen. Minimum age is 16 years.
